Among many laptop products that were introduced in the Computex 2011 event in Taiwan, Asus has one of the most interesting. A laptop that tries to compete MacBook Air as the well known super thin laptop.

Asus UX, that is the name of this laptop, with 11” screen size. The shell is made of a polished aluminum alloy with the thickness of only about 17mm. Like the MacBook Air, the Asus UX also use SSD hard drive and instant-on resume feature. At the exhibition, the Taiwan PC vendor were displaying Asus UX which equipped with Intel Core i5 processor. There are also Asus UX that uses the Intel Core i7. About the price, there are still no word from Asus, but this product will be less expensive than the MacBook Air. In the event, Asus also released the latest Eee PC netbook, the Eee PC X101, betbook with 10.1” screen that can run Windows 7 or Intel’s MeeGo. The X101 hybrid version own these both OS, so users can choose when turning it on for the first time.
The innovation are getting more unique from the world’s gadget producers. Asus, the Taiwan computer producer, is introducing a new hybrid device that combines a tablet with a smartphone. called as the Padfone, the gadget consist of an Android gadget paired with a 10” tablet. The handset that have 4.3” screen can be inserted into the s special slot in the back of the tablet.

This converged tablet combines smartphone and tablet in a gadget that enables users to choose the screen size that best matches their activities with data sharing and 3G internet. Users can also choose to watch content in smaller smartphone screen or in the larger tablet screen. When the smartphone is combine with the tablet dock, then all smartphone capabilities like the cellular connection can be done via tablet. The gadget can be called as an extension for the smartphone. Unfortunately, the Padfone specification has not been mentioned because Asus is still dong the finishing of this product. Even the operating system is still a mystery. It is predicted the Padfone will use the Android Ice Cream, that is expected to work well with tablet and smartphone.
Intel is trying to create a new class in the computer market. The chip giant is trying to combine between the capability of laptop and tablet in a gadget they call the Ultrabook. Intel begin to have problem in the mobile devices market like the smartphone and tablets. This is because the market more prefer the British company, ARM. This is why they are to strengthen their position with the Ultrabook.

Ultrabook is expected to be a new breed of gadget. It is a laptop with a light weight and with the features of tablet, like the connectivity that always on, fast boot time, and pretty thin design. Intel is looking ambitious with the Ultrabook project. They even target to reach 40% of the laptop market next year. Intel also promise to push the Ultrabook technology. A new generation chipset, the Ivy Bridge will power this device in the first half of 2012.
The latest Sony game console, the Next Generation Portable or NGP, were reported not to be released with the name they are known today. Sony is planning to change their name.

It’s true, when they were introduced, earlier this year, Sony called it the NGP. Sony said, the name is merely a code and that they wont continue to use the name. Sony will use another name when this console is planned to be released by the end of 2011. The preicted name to replace the NGP is Playstation Vita. The rumor grow stronger along with the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event held in Los Angeles, US next month. The Gamespundit site is the first one to say about the information from Sony’s internal who asked not to be named. Sony, however wont be confirming about the name until they are actually released.
