The camera quality improvement of the Apple iPhone is being documented by the Camera+ application creator. Herein we can see the comparison of pictures taken with the iPhone camera from generation to generation, the iPhone 2G, 3G, 3Gs, 4, and 4s.

It is Lisa Bettany, the creator of Camera+ application that uses 5 iPhone models to take the picture of the same object. Here we can see the distinctive different levels of clarity and focus. The first generation iPhone is known to have only 2 MP resolution camera, the picture taken is not too focus. This is rather disappointing, since focus is one of the most important factor of a camera. Lucky, Apple increase the camera quality to 3 MP, and then 5 MP, now the latest iPhone 4s is already equipped with 8 MP camera, and with better lens technology. Bettany said that the iPhone 4s camera can defeat even a high-end compact camera, it is clearer and sharper then other previous iPhone models. Although its quality is not equal to dSLR camera yet, but it can be compared with the lines of compact cameras and even beat them at certain point.
