Not only in form of phone and tablets, Android is also adopted in a special gadget that can change television as a computer. The gadget is called Veolo Smart Android Hub. It has the shape of black box, and marketed with a special remote control with several functions.
The remote has three different functions, as a remote control, mouse, and keyboard. Veolo has several specialities. Inside, it is using Android 2.2 aka Froyo, so there will be a lot of applications can be run with this product. For internet connection, users can use WiFi and LAN, but it’s a shame it doesn’t comes with 3G slot to enable a mobile connectivity. Inside, the gadget is using ARM Cortex A9 1 GHz processor and DDR3 512 MB memory, enough to support Angry Birds game and for watching HD movies. Veolo is one of the product from Ac Ryan, the vendor that have created many media player for playing HD movies.
In his biography, Steve Jobs once said that he will make breakthrough in several fields, and of them is in photography. This breakthrough were realized in a form of concept by ADR Studio.
The result? A camera concept of iPhone 5 called iCam. With this idea, iPhone can switch functions into interchangeable lens camera aka digital camera with a changeable lens. Yup, one of iCam concept is making iPhone 5 accessories in form of lens to be mounted in the phone body. The concept also mentioned that iPhone 5 will also have touchscreen technology in the front side for easy self portrait. The LED flash is also mounted, it will also have ISO ranging from 100 to 3200. The pico projector feature, 60 fps video HD recording, also 10.1 MP sensor are also mentioned for the iCam concept. With all these features, this phone can compete with digital cameras. If this comes to reality, digital camera vendors better be ready for Apple in the field of photography. As reported previously, the iPhone camera ability is increased. The iPhone 4S even have 8 MP camera and have successful to become the second most popular camera used in the photo-sharing site Flickr.
Photos and specifications of Droid 4 has comes in many technology blogs. This new smartphone from Motorola that can run in 4G network is reportedly soon to be released early next month. Motorola seems to be very ready to present their Droid smartphone successor. Internal source of Motorola said that the phone will be released on December 8, 2011.
The Droid 4 will be first marketed in the US with a data packet from Verizon Wireless. The specifications aren’t much different from previous Droid series. The Droid 4 has a slide-out keyboard, 4” touchscreen, dual-core 1,2 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, front camera for video chatting, and 8 MP rear camera. However, both Motorola and Verizon hasn’t gave any confirmation on this report. For the record, Motorola have released four Droid series smartphone this year. They are Droid X2, Droid 3, Droid Bionic, and Droid RAZR. If the Droid 4 comes in the predicted time, then this will be the fifth Motorola smartphone released in 2011.
Motorola will launch an imitation phone that looks like Droid Razr in China market in mid-December 2011. This phone is claimed to have more advanced features compared to the original version of Droid Razr. Motorola launches this MT917 in collaboration with China Mobile operator that have 600 million users. Unlike other phones, this phone will adopt local version of 3G technology which already meet the standard of TD-SCDMA (Time-Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access).
This standardization doesn’t widely open, especially outside of China. To obtain the 3G standardization, the phone that will be sold in China must have a design change or create a whole new phone. The China Mobile operator that have a special partnership with TD-SCDMA have even offered iPhone to sell their products in China. But there are still no deal between China Mobile and Apple. In term of design, the MT917 have 8,5 mm thickness, thicker than the original Droid Razr with only 7,1 mm. However, the phone is still thinner than Sony Ericsson Arc (8,7 mm), Samsung Galaxy S2 (8,9 mm), and iPhone 4 (9,3 mm). Motorola has also enlarge the screen size from just 4,3” into 4,5” with 1.280×720 pixels resolutions. The camera resolutions also increased from 8 MP to 13 MP. As for the price, Motorola hasn’t officially released it. But the original Droid Razr has the price tag of US$ 799.
