Intel is preparing to introduce their Android smartphone and tablet PC. Those gadgets will be using their mobile processor that called Medfield. In the field of mobile gadgets, Intel have to admit that they are still loosing from ARM which have their chips used in most mobile gadgets today.

That is why Intel is developing the Medfield chip that are Intel Atom-based. Intel has also intensively tested their chips to compete ARM. They claim the Medfield is capable to make browsing access and graphic performance faster with lower power consumption. This smartphone from Intel is using Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the shape that are similar to iPhone. As for the tablet that they are developing is using Android Honeycomb OS. Given the high popularity of tablet PC, its not surprising that Intel want to compete, but they have to fight hard against ARM, the British chips company. The ARM-based processor is found in the majority if Apple and Android devices. These Intel Medfield based smartphone and tablet PC is planned to be introduced in the first quarter of 2012. These gadgets have the real purpose of attracting big vendors to use Intel chips.
Samsung freshened the looks of one of their flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note. The gadget that are called the combination between a smartphone and a tablet PC is now available in white color.

Previously, Galaxy Note only appears in black version. Now, the white version is only available in their home land South Korea. There have been no information on when it will go global. In addition to the changing color to white, this new version of Galaxy Note has the same specification with the black one. It has dual core 1,4 GHz processor, 8 MP camera, and Android Gingerbread OS. The 5,3 inches screen is covered with Super Amoled HD technology with 1280×800 resolutions. There is also an S Pen, a kinda stylus to operate several functions in this smartphone. With 5,3 inches screen, the Galaxy Note is the biggest smartphone from Samsung.
Samsung announced that several of their handsets will receive an official upgrades Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012. The Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest version of Android operating system that carries several significant added features.

The models that will be having Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012 are the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II. And then following behind them gradually, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. Samsung will make a separate announcement on OS updates for every market according to the situation there and the operator’s terms. Android 4.0 was first used in Galaxy Nexus, handset created in a cooperation between Google and Samsung. As for the availability on other handsets are depending on the policy of each vendors. Besides from Samsung, several top vendors have promised Android Ice Cream Sandwich to become a part of their handsets, including LG, Sony Ericsson and HTC. Ice Cream Sandwich were designed by Google to be used on smartphones and tablets. One of their flagship feature is the Face Unlock, a face recognition feature, so that users can unlock their phones just by showing their face to the camera handset.
The gadget is claimed to be the world’s smallest MP3 player. It is created by Singapore company, Bluetree Electronics. It is called the Kube2, this is the latest version of the first Kube released earlier last year. The difference between them is in the materials.

Unlike the first generation that were made from plastics, the Kube2 body is made form aluminum. The gadget is equipped with touch sensor beneath them to help between song navigation. To change song, users can just sweep, also to pause or activate shuffle mode. Interestingly, this cube-shaped device comes with a sticker that can be changed to adjust the desired appearance. Kube2 has battery life of 6 hours and can be recharged using USB connection for 1 hour. Kube2 also have supported microSD between 512 MB up to 32 GB. But too bad the gadget with the price tag of US$35 with 4 GB microSD (1000 songs) will still only be available in 7-Eleven Singapore. But it will be marketed for larger markets in the 2012 CES event.
